Congratulations! You’ve cleared the first hurdle and got a call for an interview
Wow! You feel excited because you’ve just got a call for an interview that you were eagerly awaiting and at the same time, you are a little afraid because you are unsure about what to do and what not to do for the interview.
Here are some tips so that you can prepare for the interview
Pre-interview preparation
· Research the company: Find out as much about the company as possible as this will help in making the interview interactive. It also shows that you care enough about the job to spend time learning about your prospective employer.
· Read the job description mentioned in the advertisement again: This will help you understand and therefore answer questions based on how you fit the role as per the job description.
· Getting there: Find out how you will get to the interview venue well in advance and how long it will take you to get there. If it is possible, visit the place once before the interview if you have the time-this will give you a level of comfort about how long you will take to get there.
· Clothes: Decide what you will wear for the interview a few days before the interview. Keep the clothes clean and ironed. Choose something that is formal but not dowdy. You will find a list of clothes and accessories to wear and also to avoid at the end of this page.
Day of Interview:
· Eat right: Eat a light snack before you get to the interview. Having butterflies in your stomach is no reason for you not to push some food into it! A light snack will hold you up better while you await your turn for the interview compared to an empty stomach. It will also prevent you from becoming cranky during the interview in case, your interview is delayed.
· Time: Give yourself plenty of time to get there so that you can get there with some time to spare.
